I bought it, used it daily for three weeks, and here's the thing nobody in those reels tells you: it works beautifully in AC — and terribly in Mumbai humidity.

Yes — with conditions. The Dot & Key Niacinamide + CICA moisturizer is good for oily skin in India when used indoors or in cooler, drier conditions. It is lightweight, non-comedogenic, and calming. In high humidity (Mumbai, Chennai, Kerala) it can feel slightly heavier and may pill over sunscreen. Best suited for oily skin beginners and those in North India's dry winter months.
Texture & Absorption — What It Actually Feels Like
First Impression Out of the Tube
The texture is a gel-cream — closer to gel than cream. It's light green in colour (CICA tint) and has a mild herbal smell that fades in about 3 minutes. The consistency is smooth and spreads easily. A pea-sized amount covers my full face.
On the Skin
It absorbs in about 20–25 seconds with no greasy residue in dry conditions. No heavy film, no shine spike after application — just a clean, slightly matte finish. That's where it earns its points. My skin felt calm immediately, which I attribute to the CICA (more on that below).
The Humidity Problem
In a controlled AC room — excellent. Step outside in 34°C Pune heat after applying, and it starts to feel heavier. On days I applied it before heading out without waiting 10 minutes, it pilled slightly over my sunscreen. This isn't a dealbreaker but it's real and most reviews skip it.
Always let it fully absorb (at least 10 minutes) before applying sunscreen. Use no more than a pea-sized amount — more doesn't improve performance, it just increases the chance of pilling in heat.

Fragrance in a leave-on moisturizer can trigger sensitivity reactions over time — that's why I don't recommend it to everyone without a caveat.

Week 1 — Better Than Expected
First week, indoor days only. Oil control lasted 3–4 hours in AC. No greasy film. Skin felt genuinely calmer by day 5 — the CICA was doing its job on my minor active breakouts.
Week 2 — The Outdoor Reality Check
Mixed week with outdoor commuting. In 33°C heat, the T-zone broke through by the 2-hour mark. Applied it over BHA toner on exfoliation days — slight pilling once. I reduced the amount to half a pea and it fixed the pilling issue.
Week 3 — What Actually Improved
By week 3, two visible improvements: my post-acne marks were slightly lighter (niacinamide working) and my skin had fewer new red breakouts. Oil control hadn't changed much but my skin barrier felt more stable — less reactive to my BHA routine.
Is It Safe for Acne-Prone Skin?
Yes — with one note. The formula is non-comedogenic, free from mineral oil, parabens, and SLS. Niacinamide and CICA both actively support acne-prone skin. I had no new breakouts I could attribute to this moisturizer in 3 weeks of use.

Dot & Key markets itself better than almost any other skincare brand in India. Their Instagram feed is impeccable — pastel aesthetic, glowing skin, every influencer looking dewy and fresh. What those posts don't show: the influencer is in a studio. Controlled temperature. Professional lighting. No humidity.
In real Indian conditions — especially coastal cities — the formula behaves differently. The gel-cream texture that looks perfect on camera feels heavier when the air itself is wet. Not a product failure — a mismatch between the marketing environment and the real one.
The Fragrance Issue
Dot & Key products typically contain some level of fragrance for that signature pleasant smell — it's part of the brand experience. For casual skincare users, this is fine. For anyone building a serious oily or acne-prone routine with multiple actives, fragrance in a leave-on product is a variable you ideally want to eliminate. It doesn't cause breakouts for most people but it's a low-level irritation risk that compounds over time.

If you're in a coastal city or anywhere that gets above 80% humidity regularly, this moisturizer will disappoint on hot days. It's not designed for those conditions. Calling this a failure misses the point — it just isn't built for monsoon-level humidity.
